The museum is administered by the Union of Hungarians in Croatia, Osijek.
From 1991 to June 1997, the museum was on the occupied territory, inaccessible to museum workers and protection services.

Protection:

There are no reports of protection of the holdings.
There is no information on the museum and its holdings during the occupation.

Building damage:

The building was not damaged by direct war operations. The building is neglected and damp as a result of six years of lack of maintenance.
All holdings stored in the building, especially wooden, paper and textile items, had suffered damage in closed, non-ventilated and damp rooms during six years of occupation. There are indications that a certain number of archaeological and cultural and historical items were stolen.
According to statements by the village-people, the building was broken into during the occupation.
