The memorial site of Petrova gora was set up and administered as a memorial park holding two units: reconstructed log cabins that had housed the central partisan hospital, with a permanent exhibition on the hospital and its staff, and the area round a monument by V. Bakic, erected in 1981. The work of the hospital, shown in the log cabins, was presented by original items. The monument had housed an exhibition on the National Liberation Movement on the Petrova gora mountain.
From September 1991 to August 1995, the Memorial Park was on the occupied territory of the Republic of Croatia, inaccessible to members of the services for the protection of the cultural and natural heritage.
