The Museum was housed in the birthplace of the chemist Lavoslav Ruzička (Vukovar 1887 - Zurich 1976). In 1939 Ruzička was awarded the Nobel Prize for chemistry. His life and work were presented by a series of documents, items from his cabinet and the house he was born in, and a collection of medals, plaques and acknowledgements, with special emphasis placed on his research in the field of organic chemistry.

Building damage:


All that has remained of the building after destruction in the war is a roofless ruin overgrown with trees and weeds.
The part of the collection that was stored in the building is destroyed, and the part of the collection that was evacuated to the Municipal Museum has been stolen together with the rest of the holdings of the Vukovar Municipal Museum.
