During the shelling of the town, the facade was heavily damaged, as well as the dome, which had caved in. In repeated shelling the building was set to fire, so that today only the outer shape of the walls remains visible. The part of collection stored in the building was destroyed, and the part evacuated to the Municipal Museum was stolen with the rest of the museum holdings from Vukovar.
