Category of museum holdings: BNumber of items: 248The Archaeological Collection at the School in Darda near Vukovar came into being with accidental finds that schoolchildren brought to the school. Apart from the archaeological items, the Collection contains several paleonthological and ethnographic items.Collected and systematised from the beginning of the 70s to the end of the 80s, under the leadership of the history teacher and the professional assistance of an archaeologist from the Museum of Slavonia in Osijek.The Collection was registered in the Regional Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments in Osijek in 1981 (Certificate No. UP-I-03-174/2-81.BZ/OJ, which also contains the list and photographic documentation of the holdings). The Collection was situated in the occupied territory from 1991 to June of 1997, and professional staff and the service for the protection of monuments were denied access to it.
Because of a lack of time, the collection remained unprotected on the occupied territory.Information concerning the museum during occupation: * There is no information concerning the state of the collection during occupation.
Damage to the collection was established only after the liberation of the occupied territory and the return to Croatian sovereignty at the end of 1997.A revision was carried out and the disappearance of a certain number of items was established. The staff at the school have no knowledge concerning the fate of the missing archaeological items.
